Activities scheduled throughout 2012 Family Circle Cup

Outside the world-class tennis on display, there will be a variety of events to have fun with throughout the 2012 Family Circle Cup.

The first big event is the Draw Ceremony at 3 p.m. on Mar. 31. Head to the Grand Lawn to be a part of history in the making as player names are drawn for the tournament. You'll have the opportunity to interact with WTA players and pose for a picture with Murphy Jensen.

Mar. 31 and Apr. 1 has been deemed "Family Weekend." Each day kids can experience face painting, children's yoga, cookie decorating, magicians, jump castles, and other interactive activities as long as gates are open. It's free admission for kids 10 and under and $10 for everyone else.

Then on Apr. 3, you'll have your chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to play doubles on WTA from the world's top doubles players. The "Winning In Doubles Luncheon" runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets cost $45 each and include lunch, strategy presentation, a Q&A session, autograph session, and a special gift. You must also have a Apr. 3 day session ticket to get in.

Apr. 4 brings 3rd annual TriCounty Quickstart Challenge from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Charleston, Berkley, and Dorchester School District 2 administrators and teachers will comete on the four "QuickStart" courts at the Family Circle Tennis Center. The school district with the biggest cheering section will take home the coveted "SPIRIT" award

Also beginning Apr. 4 and continuing through Apr. 6 is the USTA Smash Zone, which features inflatable courts designed for players 10 and under. Those will be accesssible from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Club Doubles Tournament will be held Apr. 5 and Apr. 6, with teams from eight cities, including Jacksonville, Atlanta, Columbia, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Charlotte, and Charleston competing for the right to be named Club Doubles Champion.

The last daytime activity happens on Apr. 8, it's an Easter Egg Hunt on the Grand Lawn. That starts at 12 p.m.
