CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - In court Wednesday morning, the man charged with reckless driving for shutting down the Ravenel Bridge for several hours on Feb. 2 requested a jury trial.
Phillip DeClemente, 38, apologized last week for causing chaos on the Ravenel Bridge. On Feb. 2, DeClemente stopped his SUV atop the Ravenel bridge forcing police into a two and a half hour stand off.
DeClemente said in a written letter that he did it in "a desperate attempt to get justice."
He claims he parked his car on the bridge to draw attention to a dispute with a former business associate over a case and what he calls ongoing harassment by the police.
A court date has not been set for the reckless driving trial. he is charged by the Charleston Police Department.
