Suspect found not guilty in Johns Island death

A man accused of killing another man after pouring beer on him was found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter Wednesday.

Joseph Laboard was found not guilty in the death of 50-year-old Larry Matthews. Charleston police say on Dec. 26, 2008, Laboard got into an argument with Matthews outside a home on Spence Drive on Johns Island.

Police say the men ended up on the ground and Laboard climbed on top of Matthews, held him down, causing him to have trouble breathing.

Matthews later died at a hospital.
