ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - A sentencing date has been set for a South Carolina mother who pleaded guilty to killing her two young sons, then staging a watery car crash scene.
Defense attorney Carl B. Grant said Thursday that his client, Shaquan Duley, will be sentenced March 30 in Orangeburg.
Duley pleaded guilty last week to two charges of murder in the deaths of her sons, 2-year-old Devean and 18-month-old Ja'van. The 30-year-old mother admitted suffocating the boys and staging a car crash at a river outside of town.
Grant has said that Duley tried to kill herself the night of her sons' deaths and was depressed after a fight with relatives over her parenting abilities.
Duley made no deal with prosecutors. She faces between 30 years and life in prison.
