Man sentenced for selling crack to undercover cops

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston man convicted of selling crack cocaine was sentenced to almost 8 years in prison on Friday.

United States Attorney Bill Nettles said a judge sentenced Dearies L. Broughton to 94 months imprisonment, followed by six years of supervised release.

North Charleston Police Department investigators arrested Broughton in October 2010 after making an undercover deal for crack cocaine.

The undercover purchase was part of Operation S.T.A.N.D., a joint initiative between the North Charleston Police Department, the United States Attorney's Office, and the Charleston County Solicitor's Office.
