4-year-old girl taken from Texas home found safe in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities say a 4-year-old girl who was taken by her grandmother from a Texas home was found safe near Summerville late Friday afternoon.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, Bridgette Renee Sholz was found safe and sound and turned over to a child protective agency.

Investigators arrested 58-year-old Sherry Short and transported her to the Berkeley County Jail.

Officials in Texas say an alert was issued on Thursday in search for Sholz. According to investigators, the girl was taken by Short from a home in Amarillo on March 16.
