NAPLES, FLA. (WCSC) - A South Carolina Stingrays hockey player has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested for allegedly getting behind the wheel of a taxi and driving off from a Florida bar Friday night.

According to the Naple Daily News, 29-year-old Trenton Campbell is charged with grand theft auto after being arrested by the Collier County Sheriff's Office in Naples, Fla. Campbell was in the Naples area while the Stingrays were on a road trip against the Florida Everblades.

Campbell allegedly approached a cab driver outside of a bar at 2 a.m. Friday and asked for a ride.

The cab driver said he had to pick up someone else who had scheduled a pick up. When the cab driver left the taxi, two witnesses saw Campbell get in the cab and drive off.

The cab was located through its GPS device by deputies. It was found abandoned south of Bonita Beach Road. Deputies searched the area and found Campbell walking behind a building in a nearby shopping complex.

Campbell was released on a $2,500 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for April 16.

The Stingrays said Campbell has been indefinitely suspended.
