NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina's third-largest city is celebrating its 40th birthday with a concert by Earth, Wind and Fire, a band that was cranking out hits when the city was incorporated.
North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey announced Tuesday that the concert will be held June 26th at the North Charleston Coliseum. The band will perform with the North Charleston Pops Orchestra.
Summey won a fifth term as mayor in November. Last year, Boeing opened its new aircraft assembly plant in the city. The $750 million plant represents the largest industrial investment in South Carolina history.
North Charleston was founded in 1972 and has a population of about 98,000. Only Columbia and Charleston are larger.
