NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have identified an armed robbery suspect who is in critical condition after the man he was robbing shot him at an apartment complex in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department says charges will be brought against 22-year-old Racarlton Alphonse Scott once he is medically stable. Investigators also arrested 24-year-old Jermaine Venning and 20-year-old Jamel Prezzy.

Around 5 p.m., the North Charleston Police Department responded to the Green Tree North Apartments off of Otranto Road in reference to shots fired. Officers located the victim who said while he was putting his 4-year-old daughter in his vehicle, Scott approached him with a gun demanding his chain, rings, money and cellphone.

The victim said he tossed his keys in his car and was told by Scott to give him his pants. A fight then started between the two. Police said Scott then struck the victim in his head causing a laceration to his forehead.

According to a police report, the victim reached into his glove box, retrieved a gun and chased Scott to the side of the building. Police say Scott then turned towards the victim and fired several shots at him.

Investigators say the victim returned fire and hit Scott.

When the victim returned to the apartment he was visiting, officers say Prezzy fired shots at him. Police say Prezzy then jumped into a Honda which Venning was driving and fled the area.

According to police, Venning then wrecked inside of the Fairwinds apartment complex. Venning was then apprehended and Prezzy was later captured inside one of the Fairwinds apartments.

Charges will be brought against Scott once he is medically stable. Prezzy is charged with unlawful carrying, two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and discharging into a dwelling.

Venning is charged with second-degree driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue lights and attempted murder.

Prezzy has been convicted before for driving without a license and drug possession. Venning has convictions for trespassing, possession with intent to distribute drugs, drug possession, driving under suspension and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Authorities say the armed robbery victim faces no charges.
