CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 22-year-old woman who was taken to MUSC after being injured in a wreck on the Ravenel Bridge early Thursday morning faces DUI charges.

Charleston Police Department officers say Teal Marvel Scobie, of Belle Isle Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, was drunk when she caused a wreck just before 3 a.m. Police say Scobie was trying to change lanes when her Ford Taurus clipped the front-left part of a man's Volkswagen Jetta, pushing her car into the rail and causing it to overturn.

Officers at the scene said they found several empty bottles of "Shock Top" beer and noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from Scobie. Police said Scobie told them she had "only had two cups of rum."

Scobie suffered broken facial bones during the wreck and was taken to MUSC for treatment. The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured in the wreck.
