Military Appreciation Night at Family Circle Cup

Posted: Updated:

To honor the men and women who serve our country in the Armed Forces, the Family Circle Cup is proud to salute our troops by offering complimentary tickets for all active-duty military personnel to the 2012 Family Circle Cup on Military Appreciation Night, Wednesday, Apr. 4.

"Wednesday night is going to be all about recognizing the loyal service men and women who protect our country," said Bob Moran, Tournament Director of the Family Circle Cup. "We hope these heroes and their families come out to enjoy tennis and feel the support from their community."

Several military-focused events are scheduled to begin at 5:00pm, leading up to the first night session match at 7:00pm on April 4th. The Joint Base Charleston Honor Guard will present the colors on court, and Colonel Richard McComb will do the opening coin toss to kickoff the evening.

The Family Circle Cup has also adopted the 549th Military Police Unit based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia.

On Wed. night, April 4th, the Family Circle Cup's Adopt-A-Unit program will accept supplies and monetary donations at the Main Gate outside Family Circle Stadium.

Supply needs include sunscreen (4 oz), hand sanitizer (4 oz), athletic socks, lip balm, individually wrapped trail mix and letters of support. A full list of needs can be found at familycirclecup.com.

Active-duty military and their families can get complementary tickets by going to the Public Affairs Office or Marketing Office at Joint Base Charleston.

Tickets will also be available by presenting an active-duty military I.D at the Family Circle Cup box office.
