Cooper River Bridge runners ready for race

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Cooper River Bridge run expo has everything 40,000 runners and walkers could need for the big event. Many of those runners are just ready for the 10k.

"I run with a group at home called the Purple Butterflies. We run two to three times a week. So I got my miles in yesterday and I'm ready for tomorrow," said Salathia Britt of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Salathia Britt drove from Charlotte, North Carolina to run in the race for fun. Others like Terri Miller are running for a good cause.

"I had a little boy that passed away from cancer in 2006. Every step that I take to run gets me one step closer to him and it keeps my heart healthy and full of love for him," said Miller.

No matter the reason for running veteran participants still have a few helpful tips to make it safely across the Cooper River.

"First make sure you are hydrated, second take it out slow and enjoy yourself this is a fun race. There's a lot of people here. Enjoy the view enjoy the people around you, enjoy the party atmosphere," said Bob Jennings.
