MUSC officials say the motorcyclist injured late Sunday night after being hit by an alleged drunk driver in West Ashley is now in "fair condition."

According to Heather Woolwine with MUSC, the male victim has been upgraded to fair condition after suffering multiple traumatic injuries, including pelvic fractures, during the 11:20 p.m. wreck.

Charleston Police Department officers say 84-year-old Joseph Patrick Howe was trying to turn left onto Glenn McConnell Parkway from Magwood Drive when he drove into oncoming traffic, striking a motorcyclist who was stopped at the intersection.

Howe was charged with felony DUI and was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.
