NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Police arrested two people after investigators say they found a drug lab at a home in North Charleston Wednesday morning.

The North Charleston Police Department charged 34-year-old Mariah Elizabeth Faverio and 31-year-old Duan Anthony Fordham with trafficking cocaine and cocaine base, manufacturing cocaine base and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

On Wednesday morning, officers responded to a home on North Arco Lane in response to someone removing property. Officers say they met with Faverio and immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from a room in the home.

Authorities then entered the home after Faverio gave the officers permission to enter the home. According to investigators, officers saw a white rock substance on the table in plain view that field tested positive for cocaine.

Faverio and Fordham, who was located on a bed at the home, were arrested.

Investigators say they also found more drugs in the home including 81.2 grams of a green plant like material in a gallon sized zip lock bag, clear plastic bags containing a white power substance weighing a total of 56.4 grams. According to police, officers also found a .40 caliber handgun with live ammunition in the magazine and more than $4000 worth of cash.

A police report states that cocaine residue was found on a microwave glass plate, wire whisks and a measuring cup.

Both suspects were also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
