WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have released radio calls from a deputy involved in a shooting in West Ashley earlier this week.
According to the Charleston County Sheriff's office, 21-year-old Terrance Green tried to run over the deputy with his car on Monday. The deputy then fired 11 shots at the driver.
Officials say two of the bullets hit Green in the shoulder and elbow.
Radio transmissions made by the deputy detail the events after the shots were fired:"Shots fired county! Shots fired! He tried to run me over, shots fired county! He's in a burgundy car, one black male going through the light going towards Highway 7!"
During a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Al Cannon says the deputy was protecting himself.
Green is still in the hospital and will be charged with attempted murder.
