CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Trial has begun for the former part-time Charleston recreation worker accused of raping a child on the basketball team he coached between 1985 and 1986.
Keith Francis Gadsden, 46, a former City of Charleston Recreation Department employee, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Charleston Police Department investigators say the victim was between 7 and 9 years old when the sexual assault happened on Cooper Street.
Gadsden, of North Charleston, was arrested and charged in 2009.
Testimony began on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
