CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators say they arrested a suspected drug dealer after pulling him over for speeding and discovering nearly 200 grams of marijuana and more than $4100 worth of cash in his car.

The Charleston Police Department charged 35-year-old Cal Demetrius Lockwood of Huger with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, a police officer stopped a 2005 Avalon for speeding on Forest Drive.

According to police, when the officer approached the passenger side of the car, he could smell a strong odor coming from the car. The officer says he then asked the driver to leave the car and at that time the driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle.

Officers say they found nearly 200 grams of marijuana and $4100 worth of cash.

Lockwood was also issued traffic citations for speeding and plates not assigned to the vehicle. He was locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.
