USL PRO announced its Team of the Week for the opening week of the 2012 season today, honoring Charleston Battery midfielder Jose Cuevas as Player of the Week after he scored a pair of goals to lead his side to a 2-1 victory against the Richmond Kickers on Saturday evening. 

Cuevas, who was making his professional debut opened the scoring in the 41st minute and added a second in the 67th, which proved to be the game-winner. 

A native of Farmersville, CA Cuevas, 5-8, 150 lbs, 22 yrs., spent the 2011 pre-season with the Battery before returning to the Fresno Fuego for the PDL season.  Cuevas had a stellar season with Fresno in 2011 scoring 9 goals and adding 2 assists and was selected to the All-Western Conference team.  

Cuevas was joined on the Team of the Week by teammate Colin Falvey, who played a solid game at the heart of the Battery's defense.
