GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the coroner's office say the results from the autopsy performed on a young girl who died in Georgetown Wednesday do not indicate any foul play occurred.
Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said there were no visible marks or bruises on the child's body and it was possible that she may have died from natural causes.
Johnson said they did find some congestion in her lungs, but no cause of death would be determined until tests return in about a month.
Emergency officials responded to a home on Riverview Street on Wednesday after receiving reports of a child suffering life-threatening issues.
According to Johnson, the child's mother went into her bedroom and noticed that the child was not breathing.
Johnson says that emergency personnel performed CPR on the child. The child was then pronounced dead when they arrived at the hospital.
