BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner's Office says they've located the body of the missing man from Georgetown County Saturday afternoon in the Francis Marion National Forest.
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office and Berkeley County Rescue Squad were notified on Friday that a Chevy Truck was in found bogged down in the National Forest near the Honey Hill Community of Berkeley County.
The Coroner's office says John Hearne, 73, of Georgetown County was found about a half mile from where his truck was located.
Authorities with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office say Hearne was reported missing on April 9 from the Wedgefield Community of Georgetown County. Multiple agencies searched the area Friday night and continued Saturday morning.
More than 40 people including volunteers and The Department of Natural Resources used an airplane, 4-wheelers, horses and cadaver dogs to help locate Hearne.
Authorities say the cause of death is under investigation and that there is no evidence of foul play involved.
