2 hospitalized after truck hits trees in Colleton Co.

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities say two women were injured, one critically, after their truck struck several trees and rolled over north of Walterboro early Saturday morning.

Colleton County Fire & Rescue responders say the accident happened in the 6,000-block of Pleasant Grove Road, between Jeffries Highway and Round-O Road, around 5 a.m.

Responders said the passenger was entrapped after the wreck. Responders said she suffered significant traumatic injuries and head injuries. She was airlifted to the Trauma Center at MUSC after being taken to the Colleton Medical Center.

The driver was taken to Colleton Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say neither occupant appeared to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
