Investigators continue search for missing W. Ashley woman

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office released a statement on Tuesday stating that detectives are still actively investigating the disappearance of a West Ashley woman.

It's now been a month since Gayle McCaffrey was reported missing by her husband on March 17.

The sheriff's office said that searches of the area surrounding the McCaffrey home and along Highway 61 and Bees Ferry Road have yielded no additional clues.

Robert McCaffrey says the couple had a fight at their home on Limestone Boulevard. He told investigators he left that Saturday night and when he came back Sunday morning she was gone. Charleston County deputies say they do have a person of interest in the case, but aren't saying who it is.

Gayle's sister now has custody of the couple's two children.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the sheriff's office at (843) 202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
