CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A group called "Restore Teacher Salaries" will appear before the executive board of the Charleston County School District on Monday night to ask them to consider ending a salary freeze.
Charleston County is one of a small number of South Carolina districts that has denied teachers salary increases for two years. According to the group, teachers were originally promised a 2% raise each year when they accepted their positions.
Now the group wants to make sure teachers are compensated as they were promised. An online petition created by the group lists nearly 9,000 signatures.
The group will give a quick presentation at tonight's meeting at 75 Calhoun Street which starts at 5:15 p.m.
