New Sullivan's Island elementary school closer to becoming reality

SULLIVAN'S ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A new Sullivan's Island elementary school is one step closer to becoming a reality with the old school set to be demolished within a week.

On Monday night, the Charleston County school board voted 5 to 3 to approve the demolition package. The school is being torn down because it would not be able to handle a major earthquake.

The board also voted to support the 500 student, 74,000 square foot building for the new school.
