CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have charged a boyfriend and girlfriend with counterfeiting and forging City of Charleston Housing Authority checks.
Charleston Police Department officers arrested 32-year-old Omar Grant and 21-year-old Shakina Singleton, both of 236 Hanover Street, on Tuesday.
Investigators say the couple ran a scheme which took valid checks and then used a "Seagate Check writing program" to create copies which were later forged by the suspects.
Police said they seized the HP computer from the home when they served a search warrant on Tuesday.
Both suspects were taken to the Charleston County Detention Center. They are charged with conspiracy to commit forgery.
