GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities arrested a man on Monday after finding 131 marijuana plants and 14 ounces of processed marijuana during a search of two Murrells Inlet homes.

Agents assigned to the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and Georgetown Police Department executed search warrants at 639 Crystal Lane and 358 Sunnyside Avenue.

At the Crystal Lane home, agents found 131 marijuana plants with a street value of $419,000 and 14 ounces of processed marijuana valued at $11,760. Agents also seized some cash.

A search of the home on Sunnyside Avenue rendered a room set up for a marijuana-growing operation, but with plants removed, agents said.

Agents charged 62-year-old Daniel T. Richardson with manufacturing marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

He is being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center.

This operation was part of operation "Red Harvest", an 18-month investigation that started in December 2010 by the 15th Circuit Solicitors Office, Horry County Police Department and SLED.

This search warrant was 1 of 11 search warrants executed in Horry and Georgetown Counties. The operation consisted of 226 indictments with 34 different suspects.

It centered around the cultivation, distribution and trafficking of marijuana that involved the local chapters of the Hells Angels organization and affiliates.

The 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit is funded by a grant through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
