Coroner identifies man killed in moped wreck

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed after his moped was struck by a car late Tuesday night on Old Highway 52.

Coroner Bill Salisbury says 61-year-old John Brown was not wearing a helmet when he was rear-ended by another motorist.  He died from blunt force body trauma, Salisbury added.

It happened just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night on Old Hwy. 52 at Oakley Road just south of Moncks Corner.

Troopers say a moped and car were both traveling north when the driver of the car ran into the back of the moped.

No charges have been filed at this time.
