JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - An 18-year-old faces charges after Charleston County deputies say he crashed his car into the garage of a James Island home early Tuesday.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office Major Jim Brady said Charles Devin Jorudd fled the scene on Quail Drive after reaching a speed of 85 miles per hour in a Buick LaCrosse and crashing into the garage.

While deputies were investigating, Jorudd's mother responded to the scene and told deputies her son told her he caused the damage.

Jorudd said he lost control of the vehicle just before the crash around 2 a.m.  He was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and violation of beginners permit.

He was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center for booking.

Two juveniles that were in the car with Jorudd at the time of the wreck were treated for minor injuries and released to their parents.  They will not be charged in the incident, Brady said.
