BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Berkeley County Sheriff's Office deputy was involved in a wreck on Highway 17-A which sent two women to the hospital on Monday night.
South Carolina Highway Patrol officials say the wreck happened at the road's intersection with California Avenue at 10:22 p.m., when a woman driving a 2001 Nissan traveling north attempted to turn left onto California Avenue and collided with the deputy's cruiser that was heading south.
Troopers say the wreck caused the deputy to crash into a power pole off the road. However, the deputy was not taken to the hospital.
The woman and a female passenger in the Nissan were taken to an area hospital for treatment, troopers say.
The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
