Live 5 Most Wanted suspect surrenders to police

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Summerville police say 21-year-old Maurice Ramell Gregg, wanted on first-degree burglary charges, surrendered to authorities after he was featured as a Live 5 News Most Wanted suspect last week.

Summerville Police Department Captain Jon Rogers said Gregg surrendered Monday morning after seeing his profile last Thursday.

Gregg is wanted on a charge of burglary 1st degree.

Investigators say on April 5, 2012 Gregg broke into his ex-girlfriend's house and assaulted several people.

"It appears it started as a domestic situation where he was going over to a house, was banging on the front door. They wouldn't open the front door," said Capt. Jon Rogers.

Rogers said Gregg wasn't going to give up.

"So he went around and broke a window, got into the house, assaulted several people inside the house," Rogers explained.

Somebody called police, but by the time officers got to the house, Gregg was gone.

"He went back out the window that he went in and then he was able to escape that night," said Rogers.

"It had to be a terrifying situation for the children. It's night time, people banging on the door, people breaking windows, people assaulting people and the children saw this."
