Teen accused of starting fire at elementary school shed

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested a teenager accused of setting fire to an elementary school's storage shed on Arlington Drive in West Ashley on Sunday.

The Charleston Police Department charged 18-year-old William A. Jenkins with third-degree arson.

The fire happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at a storage shed on the Oakland Elementary School property. Authorities report that there was no damage to the school itself.

Jenkins was being held in the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center. The city's fire marshals investigated the incident with assistance from the police.

The investigation is continuing.
