Wando alum Jamie Childers has signed a 3 year deal with the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday his agent confirmed. The former Coastal Carolina Quarterback/Tight End was not chosen in last month's NFL Draft but had reportedly gotten a good amount of interest from teams like the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.
Childers made a name for himself playing Quarterback for the Warriors. Then during his Junior year with the Chanticleers, he began playing Tight End as well. He caught 11 passes last season for 233 yards and 3 TD's despite missing 4 games with an injury.
Childers ran a 4.69 40-yard dash at his pro day, along with 24 reps on the bench and a 1.66 second 10-yard split. His vertical leap of 36" would have tied him for the best mark among tight ends at the Combine this year.
