Kelvin de Leon's two homer, 4-5 performance at the plate paced the first place Charleston RiverDogs on Saturday night as they crushed the West Virginia Power 16-2 at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, WV. With the win the RiverDogs improve to 24-9 on the year, and the Power are now 11-24 following the loss.
Charleston struck first with three runs in the first inning, and never looked back. They chipped in a run apiece in the second, fourth, and eighth innings, and put up five runs in both the fifth and ninth innings. In addition to de Leon's 4-5, four RBI game, Angelo Gumbs was 4-6 with a homer and three RBI's, and Ben Gamel chipped in with a career high five RBI's going 3-6 at the plate. The RiverDogs set a new season high with the 19 hits en route to scoring a season high 16 runs.
