Suspect sought in Daniel Island pharmacy burglary

DANIEL ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are on the lookout for a suspect who burglarized a pharmacy on Daniel Island.

The Charleston Police Department says the burglary happened at the Delta Pharmacy Medical Supply on 162 Seven Farms Dr.

Around 3:51 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to the pharmacy in reference to a burglary. When officers arrived they noticed that the right front door glass was broken. Two witness told police that they heard a loud boom and bang then saw someone leaving the pharmacy.

The witnesses, who were vendors waiting for the store to open, say the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a red hoodie and white gloves, but were unable to determine the gender or race since the subject was heavily covered.

The suspect then left in a red Volkswagen Beetle which had been parked by the Coastal Dry Cleaners which is directly across from the pharmacy.

Investigators say the pharmacy closet where the controlled substances were kept was originally thought to have been forced open, but surveillance video shows that it was not entered.

A pill bottle of hydrocodone, which police say may have been dropped by the suspect, was found on the floor near the closet door. A sledge hammer that investigators say was possibly used to smash the front door was also found by the front door.

Witnesses describe the suspect as between 6-foot and 6'2" tall and 200 to 220 pounds.
