Former Fort Dorchester standout and current Cincinnati Bengal Carlos Dunlap will hold the 1st annual Carlos Dunlap football camp June 2nd at Fort Dorchester High School from 9am-1pm. The camp is for kids ages 6-14.
The camp will be hosted by Offense Defense football camps. The camp was voted best summer sports camps by Sports Illustrated for kids. In addition to the fundamentals of football, the camp will provide skills needed to succeed in life and learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, responsibility, respect, family values and hard work. On hand will be other NFL personalities to assist Dunlap and other area high school coaches.
"Bringing this camp back to North Charleston means everything to me. This place is who I am. I owe it to all of the people who helped me in my career to give back. Football has opened so many doors in my life and I wanted to help aid in the motivation of a kid who is just like me," Dunlap said.
Dunlap starred at Fort Dorchester from (2004-2007) before attending the University of Florida and earning Defensive MVP of the 2009 National Championship game. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and set the Bengals' record for sacks by a rookie with 9 ½.
Registration fee is $10. Each camper will receive a T-shirt and lunch will be provided by Bojangles. For more information, please call 693-6538.
