CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials say all roads have reopened in Charleston on Thursday morning after heavy rainfall caused flash flooding overnight.

Charleston Police Department officers and Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies spent the early morning blocking traffic in various areas on West Ashley and James Island after the high tide combined with heavy rainfall caused flash flooding.

Areas of standing water included the area of I-526 between Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and Savannah Highway and on Folly Road near Camp Road and Maybank Highway.

A number of traffic lights malfunctioned as well.
