Suspect in cat's brutal death arrested; reward offered for information

FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Officials with Pet Helpers say a suspect in a cat's brutal death on Folly Beach has been arrested.

According to Pet Helpers, the suspect was arrested under unrelated charges with police continuing the investigation. Officials at the animal shelter say the cat was found impaled on a steel stake post late Tuesday afternoon.

Pet Helpers is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the cat's death.

The animal shelter says Judy, an 8-year-old family cat was brutally killed sometime late Sunday at a vacant property next to the cat owner's home. After Judy did not come home Sunday night, the owner began looking for her.
Pet Helpers says late Tuesday afternoon, a friend of the family found the cat impaled on a steel stake post.

Dr. Jack Love said that the cat had been impaled and the wounds were consistent with her death. Officials say the cat died a horrific death and signs of some struggle were apparent.
