CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The couple accused of making up a story about a robbery in Waterfront Park have agreed to enter a pre-trial program.
The students, Penelope Murray and John Shafer, ended up wet and naked at a downtown hotel in November of 2010.
Charleston police say the students claimed they were robbed, their clothes stolen and said they were tossed into the harbor.
Officers later determined it was a hoax. The program allows them to keep a clean record as long as they behave.
