Jonathan Glenn and Matt Houle each scored 2 goals and Academic Magnet won their first AA State Boys Soccer title with a 5-0 win over Indian Land in Columbia on Saturday.
The Raptors finish the season 22-2 and were the only soccer team from the Lowcountry to win a state championship.
"I cannot say enough about the effort and dedication of my players throughout the year" said Raptors Head Coach Jason Hamil "I especially want to thank the leadership that my three captains (Davis Michaelsen, Wyatt Ball and Sammy Kunitz-Levy) provided. I'll enjoy this for a few days and then it's time to start preparing for next year!"
With the win, Hamil becomes the first person in state history to win a state title as a player and a Head Coach. He won twice at Riverside High School in 1994 and 1995. The victory was also his 150th as a Head Coach.
