2 Charleston Co. schools ranked among best in U.S.

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Two Charleston County School District schools are ranked among Newsweek's "Best Public High Schools in America."

Academic Magnet High School and The Charleston County School of the Arts each made the list of 1,000 schools.

Academic Magnet ranked 22nd on the list, sporting a 100% graduation rate and an average student SAT score of 1880.

The Charleston County School of the Arts ranked 788th on the list.

Schools were chosen based on six factors: graduation rates, college matriculation, Advanced Placement tests taken per student, average SAT and ACT scores, average Advanced Placement scores and a number of Advanced Placement courses offered per student.

Only four South Carolina schools made the top 1,000.
