A teen charged in connection with a fatal shooting and brutal assault on Johns Island last week has surrendered to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

Dashaun Livaughn Simmons, 19, turned himself in on Tuesday night, Major Jim Brady said. Deputies say Simmons and 20-year-old Denzel Marquis Heyward, still wanted, shot and killed Kadeem Ali Chambers and beat up another teen on Cynthia Avenue on May 16.

On Monday, deputies arrested 21-year-old Quansantrina Jaeureka Rivers for accessory to the crimes. Deputies say she drove Simmons and Heyward to and from the scene before and after the shooting and assault.

Heyward and Simmons are charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

If you have any information regarding Heyward's whereabouts, call the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers At 843-554-1111.
