Live 5 Most Wanted fugitive surrenders to authorities

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A 36-year-old woman wanted for probation violation has turned herself in. Authorities say Sharon Harris surrendered Thursday night.

"Essentially she's wanted for failure to report. We haven't seen her since March, 2011," said Agent Mitchell Ray.

Harris was on probation for breach of trust with fraudulent intent. Ray said she owes her victim more than $4,000 in restitution.

"The court gave her a wonderful opportunity to repay the victim while she's at home in the community and by failing to report, she's just thrown that away," Ray explained.

Ray said not being able to pay that money is most likely why Harris didn't report to her probation officer.

"She did get behind and may have gotten scared and is afraid to come in and face the consequences," Ray said.

According to Ray, the plan isn't necessarily to put Harris in prison. He said they are willing to work with her if she turns herself in.
