BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials are trying to determine what caused a fire at a home in Cainhoy Thursday morning.
Firefighters arrived at the home on Monica Court, off of Clements Ferry Road, around 4 a.m. to find smoke coming from the kitchen.
No one was home at the time of the fire, however, the homeowner said her burglar alarm sounded just prior to the fire. She also said emergency crews told her that when they arrived on scene, the garage door to her home was open.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Charleston Fire Department assisted crews from Berkeley County and Cainhoy with the fire.
