SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Summerville High School's search for a principal to replace Buddy Chapel has ended.

Dorchester School District Two has named Kenneth Wayne Farrell as Summerville High School's new principal. Farrell is currently the Principal of DuBose Middle School, and has been working in Dorchester School District Two since 1999.

Farrell already has a close connection to Summerville High. He was previously the Assistant Principal of Summerville High School from 1999 to 2003. He was recommended for the position after a committee of parents, teachers, administrators and district staff interviewed a number of candidates.

This year, while Principal at DuBose Middle, the school earned a Palmetto Gold Award for student academic performance and the Palmetto Silver Award for Closing the Achievement Gap from the State Department of Education and the Education Oversight Committee.

Summerville High's current principal, Buddy Chapel, is leaving the school to take a position in Pennsylvania.
