CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The National Weather Service is closely watching an area of low pressure off the southeastern US coast that is showing signs of developing into a tropical storm during the Memorial Day weekend.
Weather analysts are giving the low pressure a more than 70 percent chance of developing into a tropical system in the next 48 hours.
The latest forecast has the low developing into a depression or Tropical Storm Beryl by Saturday evening and then moving back west toward the coast of South Carolina and Georgia late Saturday night and on Sunday.
That forecast would mean a cloudy, wet and windy Memorial Day weekend for most areas off the coast.
We will continue to watch the storm and update. Track any storms using our Interactive Radar here.
