Police: Walgreens robbery suspect arrested in New York

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department says the man accused of robbing the Walgreens last weekend on Dorchester Road has been arrested in New York.

A spokesman for the police department says 46-year-old Joseph Bussman was arrested Friday evening in Peekskill, New York by the Town of Peekskill Police Department.

According to authorities Bussman was taken into custody without incident.

Police say Bussman took a number of Oxycontin pills at around 7:30 p.m. last Saturday at the North Charleston Walgreens. Bussman walked up to the pharmacist and handed them a note demanding painkillers. The suspect also showed a handgun that was in his waistband, police say

Investigators are working to have Bussman extradited back to South Carolina.
