CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston attorney Walter Hundley emerged victorious from Tuesday's special primary election deciding who will be the Republican candidate for State Senate Seat 41.

Roughly 2,800 Republican voters hit the polls, and Hundley will now have the chance to face Democrat Paul Tinkler in July for the seat vacated when Glenn McConnell stepped up to become Lieutenant Governor after Ken Ard's resignation.

Hundley's term will only last four months, and he doesn't plan on running for the Republican nomination for a full four-year term for the seat.

The other candidates from Tuesday's race, Sean Pike and Wally Burbage, will have a chance to run for that nomination in November.
