Cops investigate shots fired on Dorchester Road

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston police are investigating after gunshots were fired on Dorchester Road near I-526 on Sunday afternoon.

According to a North Charleston Police Department incident report, 3 people were inside a white Oldsmobile 88 when it was shot multiples times just before 5 p.m. Police said parts of several windows had been shot out, and shell casings were located near the scene.

Police say no one was injured in the shooting and details from witnesses differed.

One witness said that when she heard two gunshots, she saw a black car parked in front of the Oldsmobile at the intersection near I-526. The witness said the black car sped away after she heard the shots, then the occupants of the Oldsmobile got out of the car and ran over and climbed into a blue truck parked near the Harley Davidson Dealership before driving off.

Another witness told police that while she was sitting at the intersection, she saw the black car heading west on Dorchester Road and the white Oldsmobile parked in the middle of the road, as if the occupants in the cars were exchanging words. Then, the witness said the black car drove off and the occupants in the car ran to the blue truck near the dealership lot.

When police finally made contact with one of the victims, he told police he didn't see the suspect's vehicle and also said he didn't know where the shots came from, though he mentioned that just before the shooting he had been standing outside his vehicle when a white Lincoln Town Car pulled up and drove by slowly.

The victim said when the shooting occurred, he and the other occupants jumped out of the car and ran towards the Harley-Davidson dealership, where a friend in a blue truck picked them up.

Police also said one of the bullet hit another woman's car tire during the incident.

If you have any information regarding this shooting, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
