Fire causes major damage to downtown Charleston home

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters extinguished a large blaze which caused extensive damage to a home on Woolfe Street Sunday.

City of Charleston Fire Department spokesman Mark Ruppel said the fire happened at 3 Woolfe Street, a 2-story home around 3:30 p.m.

Ruppel said firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy flames showing, but had the blaze under control after a little over an hour. No injuries were reported.

Meeting Street was closed nearby during that time

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
