
Senior right-handed reliever Kyle Owings has signed as a free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks at the conclusion of the 2012 MLB Entry Draft.
A native of Gilbert, S.C., Owings was named All-SoCon Second Team after completing his senior campaign with a 3-0 record and 1.73 ERA. He made two saves and struck out 52 batters while only walking 20 in 41.2 innings of work.
No Cougar players were drafted in the second day of the MLB Draft after Marty Gantt (7th, Rays), Christian Powell (8th, Twins) and David Peterson (8th, Braves) were all drafted in the top eight rounds yesterday.
CofC signee Ronald Pena was picked in the 16th round (504 overall) by the Washington Nationals.
